Fiji Teachers Registration Authority

ALBERT

The Fiji Teachers Registration Board (Authority) looks after the registration of all teachers, knowledge providers and skills trainers prior to their being allowed to enter and teach in a classroom in Fiji. The 2008 FTRB Promulgation was endorsed by Cabinet and gazzetted in 2009 and teachers in Fiji first registered soon after. It is now illegal for anyone to teach, pass on knowledge or do skills training in any school in Fiji if they are not registered with the organization.
At the moment, there are 11,488 teachers registered with FTRB under the three registration categories of Limited Authority To Teach, Provisional Registration and Full Registration. In addition, the body has also registered 158 Institutions that also provide services to schools.
The unit became an independent authority in 2013 after it was passed by Cabinet and now operates under a Board which reports via our Chair the Permanent Secretary for Education to the Minister for Education. We are located at Level 2, Harbour Front Building opposite the Tapoo City Building and we can be contacted on telephones 3100119, 3100125 or 3311175.
